Dr. Carolsfeld, originally from a small coastal town in BC, Canada, obtained his PhD working with fish pheromones and reproduction, a Masters in invertebrate neurophysiology and an Honours in marine biology, with intervening periods of working with fisheries, aquaculture, environmental surveys, boat mechanics, and SCUBA instruction. For the last decade, he has devoted his time to blending his diverse technical expertise with social sciences to design and implement multidisciplinary and multistakeholder projects that foster environmental conservation blended with equitable sustainable resource-based livelihoods. He has been Executive Director at WFT since mid-2006.

 

Alison Macnaughton, M.A.

Alison obtained a Geography degree in her home town at the University of Victoria, BC, before completing her Masters in Community and Regional Planning at UBC - defending a thesis on watershed management in Santo André, Brazil. She helped design and manage WFT's Inland Fisheries project in Brazil beginning in 2003, focusing on the development of multi-stakeholder resource management and community-based economic development.

 

Lindsay Silverson, B.A.

Lindsay moved to Victoria after obtaining a degree in Psychology and Sociology at Queen's Univeristy in 2003. She has been working for grassroots non-profit organizations ever since. Lindsay is the Office Manager and also assists with projects and all other aspects of World Fisheries Trust.

John obtained his Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning (2000) and completed his Master's Degree in Local Economic Development (2002) from the University of Waterloo, ON. Since 2003 he has been working as project coordinator and consultant with UBC's Center of Human Settlements and with the World Fisheries Trust on CIDA funded development projects all over Brazil. His fields of speciality include urban, regional and metropolitan collaborative governance structures, sustainable economic development, pro-poor value-chain mapping, and public policy development and analysis. He joined the WFT team to coordinate the People of the Tides Project in Brazil.

Paige Erickson-McGee

Paige is currently attending Camosun College's Environmental Technology Program where she has developed a passion for ecosystem-based resource management projects and interactive, community-based environmental education programs. She is the new Environmental Assessment and Monitoring Officer for the Olympia oyster project.

Jessica Walker

Jessica is the new Ecological Interpretation Officer, running activities at the Gorge Waterway Nature House and Seaquaria in Schools program. She is currently attending the University of Victoria where she is enrolled in the Restoration of Natural Systems program.
